5 things you shouldn’t say to your Travel Agent

5 things you shouldnt say to your travel agent

So you have made the decision to book with a Travel Agent for your next holiday. Although a Travel Agent will have a wealth of knowledge, they still need to know some key information. This could be as simple as the destination and time of year you would like to visit.

Here at Bluebird, we want to ensure you get the best out of your planning experience and provide you with 5 things you shouldn’t say to your Travel Agent.

What’s the cheapest package you have?

If you ask this question, the Travel Agent may recommend a package that is purely going to earn them more commission or a higher sale value, not what they believe you may like.

When’s the best time to go?

It shows you haven’t really thought about your holiday and you may be viewed as a ‘time waster’ resulting in a negative experience. We recommend you do some research on the country you are visiting first. Just ask Google, it is a wealth of information for simple questions.

I don’t have a budget.

Everyone has a budget and providing one will save time. It doesn’t have to be exact and might even be helpful to break it down to how much you are willing to spend on flights, accommodation, transfers and tours separately. Some people may like to spend more on accommodation than flights for example.

Are there any deals on at the moment?

Yes, there are always deals, but it doesn’t mean they will be suitable for every traveller. Travel Agents are in the business of exceeding expectations. They can’t spend time listing off all the deals available. This is not a good use of their time or yours. We recommend you help them out by providing a little insight as to what you are looking for from your holiday experience.

I don’t care what time my flight departs.

Be realistic and think about the pre and post-travel experience attached to your flight time. You need to consider the 2-3 hours before your flight, the impacted sleeping patterns and the arrival time at your destination. It won’t be much fun if you’re tired!
